Level B1 in Latvian is an intermediate level of language proficiency. This level is designed for students with strong knowledge of Latvian, who have already mastered basic communication skills and want to develop them. The course aims to significantly expand vocabulary and deepen grammatical knowledge, allowing students to communicate more confidently and fluently in a variety of everyday and professional situations.

About the course

Upon completion of the B1 level Latvian course, you will be able to:

Communicate confidently on everyday topics.
Understand the main ideas of complex texts.
Compose medium-length texts.
Use complex grammatical structures.
Participate in discussions and debates.
Recognize and use idiomatic expressions.
Navigate social and professional situations.

Course grammar material:

Advanced verb tenses: Conditional mood, subjunctive mood.
Complex grammatical structures: Subordinate clauses of time, conditions and causes, intensifying constructions.
Compound pronouns: Relative pronouns, indefinite pronouns.
Compound prepositions: Use of prepositions with different cases and contexts.
Complex sentence structures: Conditional sentences, direct and indirect speech.
Syntactic structures: Use of participles and adverbial participles, infinitive constructions.
Idiomatic expressions and phrases: Understanding and use of phraseological units and fixed expressions in context.
