Portuguese language course A1 (withou knowledge)

The course is designed for students with no previous Portuguese language experience. The course program will help you learn basic communication skills and understand simple conversational situations.

About the course

Upon completion of the A1 level Portuguese course, you will be able to:

  • Greet and say goodbye.
  • Introduce yourself and ask for information about other people.
  • Conduct simple dialogues on everyday topics (shopping, time, food).
  • Pronounce Portuguese sounds and letters correctly.
  • Read and write simple words and phrases in Portuguese.
  • Understand simple phrases and instructions.
  • Respond to basic questions and commands.
  • Master about 300-500 basic words and expressions.
  • Topics: Family, professions, numbers, days of the week, colors, food, shopping.
  • Describe yourself, your family, and your friends.
  • Express your preferences and interests.

Course grammar material:

  • Basic order of words in a sentence.
  • Basic prepositions of place and time (em, para, de, com).
  • Present tense (Presente do Indicativo) for regular and irregular verbs.
  • Past tense (Pretérito Perfeito) to express completed actions in the past.
  • Future tense (Futuro do Presente), mainly for expressing intentions.
  • Personal pronouns (eu, tu, ele/ela, nós, vós, eles/elas).
  • Possessive pronouns (meu, teu, seu, nosso, vosso, deles).
  • Use of basic adjectives to describe people and objects.
  • Agreement of adjectives with nouns by gender and number.
  • Formation of questions using interrogative words (o quê, quem, onde, quando, por quê, como).
  • Construction of negative sentences with “não” and other negative constructions.
  • Basic numerals 0 to 100. Use of numerals to indicate number and age.
  • Basic conjunctions (e, mas, ou, porque) to link sentences.

The classes take place twice a week for 3 teaching hours (2 hours 15 minutes) according to a pre-arranged schedule.

What are the terms of payment for the A1 Portuguese course at the Polyglot Training Center?
